A duplexer is used if, for example, has a radio that covers multiple frequency bands but only has one antenna connection - and you want to use multiple antennas for the radio. A triplexer allows you to connect three different antennas to the same connection on the radio. Note that connecting two antennas to the same frequency band does not work, but the duplexer and triplexer have specific frequency ranges for each connection. Of course, you can also turn the whole thing around and connect several different radio sets to a multi-band antenna.
